Women, sports and dreams come true
Rustamova Barno, Panjakent
Rustamova Barno, an engineering graduate from Tajik Polytechnic University, had an idea. She was going to launch an all-women’s gym in her home city of Panjakent in Tajikistan.
She knew other women in her community wanted the opportunity to exercise and keep healthy—but she needed capital to get her dream started. Thanks to a microloan made possible by the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation–Tajikistan, Barno was able to begin making her dream a reality. “It makes me very happy,” she says, “whenever I see women getting out of the gym and their happy faces.” To learn more about how microloans help people like Barno, follow the link in our bio.
